Audrey Hepburn once said: "I have a dream to have a big wardrobe full of cashmere sweaters."

Now more and more people are beginning to love and wear cashmere, which is known as "soft gold", just like Hepburn, and cashmere clothing has also become the choice of many consumers for autumn and winter wear.

However, the question of how to prolong the lifespan of cashmere sweaters, cashmere cardigans, cashmere pants, cashmere scarves, cashmere accessories, and other cashmere apparel lines is of utmost importance to us. With proper care, cashmere clothing has the potential to last for decades.

We will show you how to care for cashmere below...

How to wash cashmere clothing?

1. Place a basin of cold water and add a bit of wool and cashmere-specific detergent to it. It's important to note that the detergent shouldn't come into direct contact with the fiber surface. Mix it thoroughly before submerging your clothes. Turn the garment inside out, with the inner layer facing outwards, and reverse the cashmere sweater while washing. By placing the cashmere on the inside, you can also help prevent pilling.

2. Press gently a few times, being careful not to rub, otherwise the fibers will felt and pill. Change the water and repeat the process. cashmere clothing are easy to remove stains, so be sure to use clean water and don't let the detergent soak for too long. In addition, it is best to wash cashmere sweaters of different colors separately to avoid fading.

3. After washing your cashmere clothing, squeeze out any excess water, but do not twist it, and lay the garment lengthwise on a clean bath towel and roll it up. Gently press the bath towel to help it absorb any excess water.

4. Lastly, unfold the towel and lay it flat to air dry. Avoid exposing it to direct sunlight. Cashmere dries relatively quickly, whereas wool takes a bit longer. You might consider using a specialized drying rack or net, which you can turn halfway through the drying process. Just be cautious about hanging it in direct sunlight; it can easily stretch and lose its shape, and prolonged exposure may cause it to yellow.

What should you consider when wearing cashmere clothing in your daily life?

1. Cashmere is delicate, so be mindful of reducing friction and avoid weakening the fibers. Do not pull it forcefully to prevent shedding. It is normal for slight pilling and the occurrence of small holes.

2. Avoid contact with corrosive substances.

3. Dust it regularly using a soft brush or a vacuum cleaner to keep it dry and free from dust.

4. Refrain from wearing it for extended periods. Allow for intervals at least once a week to maintain its elasticity and prevent fiber fatigue.

How to store cashmere clothing?

1. Before storing, make sure to wash, iron, and dry the items to prevent mold and moths. You can use desiccants or insect repellent bags if needed.

2. Fold the items, place them in a bag, and lay them flat. Avoid hanging to prevent deformation.

3. Store in a shaded area to prevent fading.

4. Remember to ventilate the storage area frequently, and keep it dust-free and dehumidified.

About Pilling:

Cashmere clothing is susceptible to pilling due to the presence of a layer of scales on the surface of its fibers. This layer leads to varying degrees of pilling as the fibers rub against each other. Renowned for its exquisite fibers and soft, smooth texture, cashmere undergoes a milling process during production to enhance these attributes. This process involves shrinking certain fibers within the yarn and covering the surface of the cashmere sweater, resulting in a delightfully soft touch. However, if the suede finish is too minimal, the product's feel can suffer. Consequently, during regular wear, constant friction inevitably leads to pilling.

How to deal with cashmere pilling?

Once your cashmere clothing begins to pill, refrain from tugging at it vigorously with your hands. Instead, lay the garment flat and use a pill trimmer to evenly remove the pills, or delicately snip them off with a pair of fine scissors. As the loose fibers are shed, the pilling issue will progressively diminish.

About fading

Regarding the fading of cashmere clothing, our craftsmanship is of the utmost quality, ensuring that fading is not an issue. When washing dark cashmere sweaters for the initial time, you may notice some excess dye in the wash water—this is not fading. Due to the high concentration of dark dyes, even with our selection of premium reactive dyes, a minor amount of dye may release. Furthermore, to prevent fading, avoid wringing the garment vigorously during washing, do not expose it to direct sunlight, and refrain from soaking it for extended periods.

How to prevent cashmere clothing from deforming?

Cashmere fibers are less elastic than other fibers, but they retain their shape well if they are washed and stored properly. To prevent your cashmere sweater from losing its shape, it's best not to wear it for more than two days in a row to give it time to recover. Rotating between two cashmere sweaters is a smart move to ensure your favorite garment stays in top shape.
